About My Writing
The first story I ever wrote was in elementary school, sometime in six or seventh grade — it was for these children’s picture book assignment and included illustrated pictures. I think my mom still has it kicking around somewhere in a closet or in a bin of old school work. The story was about a crime-fighting squirrel and was, from what I recall, pretty silly. My first real foray into telling what felt like a real story came in grade nine, with a short story that was part swashbuckling pirate adventure, and part journey to Atlantis. That one felt a lot more real, and the feedback was pretty amazing. Before I knew it I was writing a science fiction novella and things kind of grew from there. If you want to know more about the beginning of my journey as a writer, you can read this essay that I write for a creative non-fiction class I took in fourth year in university.
What I hope to use this section for is to share some of the things I’m working on with people who might be interested. I plan to have more short stories and things to share, and maybe even a few “sneak peeks” at some of the novels I’m working on. One of the things that comes along with my ADD — aside from the wonderful subscription to Distraction Magazine — is that I’m always working on too many projects and my mind likes to jump around from one to the next, never completing any of them. I’m hoping if I share some of my work here, and people are interested that it might help spur me on to get things done faster!
For now, I’ll post links below to different things as I make them available, so check back when you get a chance!
